In aviation mode, the aera 500’s detailed chart-style shaded mapping and extensive terrain and aviation databases help you visualise your flight path in relation to nearby navaids, terrain, SUAs, obstructions, and so on. Plus, the addition of private airports and heliports to the database affords even more navigation and emergency “nearest” options. A database-driven terrain advisory feature offers TAWS-like color coding and pop-up alerts when possible obstructions or ground proximity conflicts loom ahead.
The aera's navigation continues with full automotive GPS capability and preloaded City Navigator® NT street mapping. Operating much like Garmin’s popular nüvi® line of touchscreen auto navigators, your aera 500 offers voice-guided turn-by-turn directions with text-to-speech audio technology that calls out streets by name. In addition, there’s built-in Bluetooth® support for wireless hands-free calling with your compatible mobile phone. And the aera’s built-in “points of interest” database offers helpful guidance to millions of motels, restaurants, gas stations, ATMs, and other local attractions. To further speed your transition from aircraft to automotive mode, a unique ”smart mount” for the aera offers instant clip-and-go car navigation.

The new Zulu headset looks different because it is different. Made with magnesium and stainless steel it's extremely durable and yet weighs just over 13 ounces. Because of its unique ear cup design, Zulu has more total noise cancellation than any headset on the market. Simply put, you get broader noise attenuation over the entire audible range.
Rather than concentrating purely on cutting decibels, our engineers looked at how pilots perceive noise at different frequencies. Their goal was to make the Zulu feel so much better than any other headset, that when someone put it on, the first words would be "Wow". |
|
|
ANR
Active cancellation over a deep, broad range of low frequency noise. Designed, when worn, to be the quietest headset on ever.
• Front Row Center To Enhance Stereo
Front Row Center (FRC®) gives you a theater-like listening experience, enhancing stereo sound reproduction so that audio seems to come from all around you, not just from your right and left.
• Auto MusicMute To Quiet Auxiliary Devices
When radio communications come in from the panel, Auto MusicMute decreases the volume of auxiliary devices by 80%. This allows you to enjoy music through your headset without missing any important radio communications.
•Stereo/Mono
Switchable to match the signal from your audio panel.
• Connectivity
Bluetooth Enabled Allows wireless connection to Zulu from Bluetooth phones or other devices.
Cell/Music Connection Wired interface for patching in cell phone, or music devices with supplied cables.
• Magnesium Cups
Durable yet light weight that also is 10x more effective at blocking out high frequency noise without sacrificing comfort.
• Stainless Steel Headband
Light and comfortable. Thin to eliminate top of canopy clearance problems.
• Zulu Configurations
- Zulu: straight cord, battery powered, dual GA plugs
- Zulu P: straight cord, installed panel powered, single LEMO plug (same plug a Bose headset uses)

EXPERIENCE THE G500

Back to Menu
|
Designed specifically for FAR Part 23 Class 1/Class 2 aircraft (singles and twins under 6,000 lbs.), the G500 is an affordable, dual-screen electronic flight display that works with your Garmin avionics stack to provide a fully TSO’d “glass cockpit” retrofit option. 10-inch wide bezel fits neatly into the panel space vacated by your standard six-pack of mechanical 3-inch flight instruments. (In many cases the existing airspeed indicator, artificial horizon and altimeter can be relocated to serve as standby instrumentation.)
Dual 6.5-inch LCDs, mounted side-by-side in the bezel, put both Primary Flight Display (PFD) and Multifunction Display (MFD) capabilities directly in your field of view to help streamline instrument scanning. You’ll see real-time True Airspeed calculations and selectable Winds Aloft data – as well as aircraft ground speed, GPS active waypoint, distance-to-waypoint, desired/actual track, and more.
On the left-hand side, the PFD consolidates all primary situational information regarding your aircraft’s position, speed, attitude, vertical rate, altitude and flight progress. For added visual orientation, a scaled version of Garmin’s SVT™ Synthetic Vision Technology is also available as an upgrade option – creating a 3-D “virtual reality” perspective view of flight and enroute terrain features.
Looking over to the right side of the G500, the MFD provides detailed moving-map graphics of your aircraft’s current position in relation to ground features, chart data, navaids, flight plan routings and more. Initial Garmin FliteCharts® and SafeTaxi® come pre-installed (the charts will disable when the data is over 6 months out-of-date). And built-in terrain database provide color-coding and other visual cues to graphically alert you when proximity conflicts loom ahead. G500 operation is simple – with familiar rotary knob for data entry, softkeys for mode selection, front-loading SD card slot for additional data and updates, plus an easy-to-navigate G1000-like graphical user interface.
In place of sensitive gyro instruments, the G500 uses Garmin’s super-reliable GRS 77 Attitude and Heading Reference System (AHRS). Combining inputs from GPS, magnetometer and air data computer, the Garmin AHRS provides an accurate digital referencing of your aircraft’s dynamic orientation in space. Also, unlike some competitive attitude/heading sensors, it’s even able to restart and properly realign itself while the aircraft is moving.
The G500 was designed to interface with the most popular autopilots and flight directors installed in Class 1 and Class 2 aircraft. You can use the G500 for cockpit control/display of heading, course and navigation source inputs for the autopilot. What’s more, with the optional GAD 43 adapter unit, you can elect to have the same ultra-reliable digital AHRS data driving the G500 display to serve as your autopilot’s primary attitude reference. This typically eliminates the need to retain a gyro-mechanical ADI as your autopilot reference for the G500 glass cockpit. For added cockpit capability, it’s easy to combine the G500 with a variety of optional sensors and data links. For example, digital on-board weather radar functionality can be added with the Garmin GWX 68 (an interface enabling card is required; it’s sold separately). Also available is Garmin’s GDL 69/69A series receiver. It offers weather alerting and NEXRAD coverage for the U.S. and much of Canada, via XM satellite datalink (XM subscription required). There’s a user interface with the GDL 69A that lets you enjoy over 170 channels of XM Radio inflight programming. And for help in keeping an eye on other planes in your vicinity, you can access Traffic Information Service (TIS) alerts on your G500, simply by adding a GTX 330 Mode S transponder. Or, you can select from available TAS and TCAS systems, including Garmin’s GTS™ family of advanced traffic surveillance products.
With Supplemental Type Certification (STC) provided under an FAA Approved Model List, Garmin has detailed G500 installation specs for over 600 models of GA aircraft. So, retrofitting is simple and straightforward. Just see your authorized Garmin installation center to see how fast you could be onboard with this great-looking system in your aircraft. |

G600 Garmin Dual Screen Electronic Flight Display

|
Bringing true “glass cockpit” capabilities to the aircraft you already have, Garmin’s G600 is a retrofit breakthrough. Now, you can upgrade your avionics panel with a G600 suite and start reaping the benefits of enhanced situational awareness, safety and pilot workload reduction.
The dual-screen G600 works with your Garmin avionics stack, pairing both a primary flight display (PFD) and a multi-function (MFD) display in a single 10-inch wide bezel – to provide a fully TSO’d upgrade option for your cockpit. And with software assurance levels required for FAR Part 23 Class 3 aircraft, G600 is the ideal solution.A scaled version of Garmin’s SVT™ Synthetic Vision Technology comes pre-installed on your G600. Using sophisticated graphics modeling to create a 3-D topographic landscape from the G600’s terrain alerting database, SVT provides a “virtual reality” perspective view of ground and water features, obstacles and traffic – all shown in relative proximity to your aircraft. So, rather than looking at the PFD, you’ll have a sense of looking through it, to “see” what lies beyond the nose of your aircraft. SVT clearly enhances your view of primary flight data by giving it a realistic visual frame of reference – especially in solid IFR or nighttime/marginal VFR conditions.
In addition to the graphical terrain and obstacle alerting information provided by SVT, you can also augment the G600 with optional Class-B TAWS (Terrain Awareness and Warning System) And, as an option, Jeppesen-style ChartView™ instrument approach plates and airport surface charts can be ordered through a JeppView™ for MFD subscription – enabling you to overlay your aircraft’s position on the MFD approach display.
In place of costly-to-maintain gyro instruments, the G600 uses Garmin’s super-reliable GRS 77 Attitude and Heading Reference System (AHRS). Combining inputs from GPS, magnetometer and air data computer, the AHRS provides an accurate digital output and referencing of your aircraft position, rate, vector and acceleration data. It’s even able to restart and properly realign itself while the aircraft is moving. G600 is designed to interface with most popular GA autopilots and flight directors. The GAD 43 adapter unit (provided with the G600) offers enhanced autopilot interface – allowing AHRS to provide attitude information to your autopilot in place of a gyro-mechanical ADI. The GAD 43 can emulate the many existing gyro interfaces, using far more reliable AHRS data to provide the attitude, heading, yaw input, baro correction, and alerting cues to the autopilot. This typically eliminates the need to keep that costly-to-maintain gyro ADI as your autopilot reference for the G600 glass cockpit. Optional sensors and services let you add capabilities to your G600 for better-informed weather and traffic decisions. For example, digital on-board weather radar functionality can be added with Garmin’s GWX 68 (software interface is included; LRU sold separately). Also available is Garmin’s GDL 69/69A series XM receiver. It offers up-to-the-moment weather data and NEXRAD coverage for the U.S. and much of Canada, via XM Satellite Radio datalink (XM subscription required). There’s also a user interface with the GDL 69A that lets you enjoy over 170 channels of inflight audio programming with a subscription to XM Radio. And for help in watching nearby traffic, you can access Traffic Information Service (TIS) alerts on your G600, simply by adding a GTX 330 Mode S transponder. Or, you can select from available TAS and TCAS systems, including Garmin’s GTS™ family of advanced traffic surveillance products.
Whether you fly a typical GA piston single or twin – or even a larger Class 3 aircraft (piston or turbine aircraft between 6,000 lbs. and 12,500 lbs. MTOW) Garmin’s G600 is the perfect retrofit option. With Supplemental Type Certification (STC) provided under an FAA Approved Model List, Garmin offers detailed G600 installation specs for over 800 models of aircraft. Just see your authorized Garmin installation center for specific G600 compatibility information. |
